White Goss-type bust figure of Lord Kitchener in uniform, on a cylindrical plinth with a gold edge, printed in colour with the coat of arms of Grindleford (Derbyshire), the quartered shield bearing a lion rampant.

Printed inscription on the reverse ‘In memoriam. Lord Kitchener of Khartoum went down in HMS Hampshire June 5th 1916 off the Orkney Islands. He did his duty’.

Horatio, Earl Kitchener of Khartoum (1850-1915) was lost in 1916 in the sinking of the armoured cruiser HMS ‘Hampshire’ while on a diplomatic mission to Russia.
