Nile (1727)
No scale. A plan showing the profile with sheer lines and some decoration, body and longitudinal half-breadth of the Nile (1727), an 18 gun three masted ship. This ship is not recorded on any lists of Royal Navy warships, and could have been a privately-owned vessel. The table of dimensions on the plan is stated as being correct to the ship's 'as-built' specifications. This, and a stated launch date of August 1727 indicates that the vessel was actually built. The name 'Captain George Matthews' is visible on the plan.
This ship does not feature in the Progress Books, and Captain Matthews is not recorded in 'Commissioned Sea Officers'.
Item CHN0181 is a modern draught based on this plan.
