(John, by the grace of God, Prince Regent of Portugal, etc.) Below: '1809.' Reverse: Inscription (within laurel wreath), '14 . JAN . 1809.' Legend: 'CAYENNA TOMADA A : OS FRANCEZES.' (Cayenne taken from the French.) The island was captured by a Portuguese force and 80 men from HMS 'Confiance'.
