Medal commemorating HMS 'Argonaut', China Station. Obverse: A very bare cherry tree. Right, five naval officers in a row; left, a large number of naval officers moving up in single file, all wearing frock-coats and caps. Legend (on a ribbon across foot of tree): 'SUB HOC CERESO MANEMUS' (Under this cherry tree we remain). Reverse: Foul anchor. Shield with Golden Fleece (left); shield with dragon (right). Legend: 'ARGONAUT CHINA 1900-1904'. Fitted with a ring and a cherry-coloured ribbon. Bars: 'OCTOBER 1903 TO FEBRUARY 1904', 'OCTOBER 1902 TO OCTOBER 1903 LOGGED', 'OCTOBER 1901 TO OCTOBER 1902'. Struck in honour of Captain Cherry, the commander, by his brother officers. Presented by Paymaster Captain W.J.A. Brown.
