Medal commemorating the attack by German naval airships, 1915. Obverse: Winged Victory carrying a flaming sword in her right hand and a wreath in her left. Legend: 'GOTT SEGNETE DE VEREINIGTEN HEERE.' Reverse: Inscription, 'DEUTSCHE MARINE LUFTSCHIFFE BOMBARDIEREN BEFEST . ENGL . KÜSTENPLÄTZE . I . D . NACHT 19 . 20 . JAN 1915.' (German Naval Airship bombardment of English coastal fortifications during the night of 19/20 Jan. 1915.) Fitted with a ring and loop. The raid was intended to target Humberside, but diveted by strong winds, the two Zeppelins dropped their bombs on coastal towns in Norfolk instead.
