Medal commemorating the Bureau Veritas centenary 1828-1928. Obverse: France, crowned, seated in her sea-car (left), a trident in her right hand, driving Neptune's sea horses. Exergue: stern of ship with rayed head, and paddles and anchors to either side. Legend: 'SPLENDOR REI NAVALIS.' Exergue: 'GALLIA.' Reverse: Raised circular plaque, inscribed, surrounded by an oak and laurel garland, a lion's head in the centre at the base. Inscription: 'BVREAV VERITAS 1828-1928.' On the edge 'BRONZE.' Box has impressed inscription in gold: 'BUREAU VERITAS 1828-1928.' After Jean Mauger.
