A uniface Maltese cross with ray spandrells with plain sunken centre, its edge decorated. Inscription reverse: 'Presented to Captain J.Taylor FOR SAVING FIVE LIVES JULY 1887'. Bar: 'QUEENSLAND'. Fitted with a ring and a red ribbon edged blue (left) and yellow (right) suspended from an inscribed brooch pin bar.
