Second China War Medal 1857-60
Obverse: Head of Queen Victoria with a diadem, hair tied in a knot (Left). Legend: "VICTORIA REGINA" Reverse: At the foot of a palm a trophy of flags, cannon, the royal shield, a capstan, etc. (I) Legend: "ARMIS EXPOSCERE PACEM". Exergue: "CHINA 1842". Uninscribed. Bars: "CANTON 1857", "TAKU FORTS 1860", "PEKIN 1860". Fitted with a loop and plain (swivel) bar and 1 1/2" wide crimson ribbon edged with yellow suspended from a buckle brooch.
