Creamware plate, transfer-printed in black and hand coloured in red, yellow and green, showing a merchant vessel under sail wearing a Danish ensign with a 'C7' and crown in the centre and a red pennant. 'C7' is the royal cipher of Christian VII of Denmark (ruled 1766-1808), Danish monarchs using arabic numerals. The sea is enclosed in a cartouche with naval trophies below. There is a red band painted around the rim.
