Naval General Service Medal 1793-1840
Obverse: The head of Queen Victoria wearing a diadem and with hair tied in a knot. Legend: 'VICTORIA REGINA 1848'. Reverse: Britannia seated on a sea horse, a trident in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Bars: 'COPENHAGEN 1801', 'GUADALOUPE'. Inscription on the edge: 'GEO.O.LEMPRIERE, LIEUT'. the medal is mounted in a velvet frame with MED1430. It is suspended by a straight clasp from a white ribbon, edged dark blue. Lempriere was a Midshipman in HMS 'Russell' at Copenhagen.
