Admiral Sir William Hotham [?], 1772 - 1838 [
Miniature previously entitled 'Admiral Baron William Hotham, 1736-1813', which it cannot be since it shows a captain in the 1795-1812 dress uniform, by which time William Hothan senior (Lord Hotham, who was the younger man's uncle) was alsready in flag rank. If the family identification is correct, it must therefore be the younger man. The miniature is executed in watercolour and gum arabic on ivory. The miniature consists of a man looking to his left and he has white hair and is wearing a blue jacket with gold trimmings and a white neckcloth. [PvdM 12/15]
