Gyrocompass and binnacle

Pedestal-Grey painted brass column, dia. 6.5" (16.5cm) with 14" dia. bowl at top to house compass repeater. Connection box with dimmer switch fitted into column (Patt. 1855). Brass detachable hood with two viewing apertures.
Compass Repeater-Dia. 9.75" (24.8cm) set in gimbal mounting. Fitted with motor and electric illumination. Compass card graduated: outer ring 0-180, 0-180 with additional set of mirror image figures, inner ring 0-360 with additional set of mirror image figures. Inner band: half-cardinal markings. Centre band: marked with letters A-F in 60 degree setors. These are used for rapid reporting of aircraft approach. Ship's head marked with a black painted triangle. Decorated North point.
