Seekreiselsextant

The sextant has a casing of aluminium and artificial materials, housing optical equipment, a clockwork averaging mechanism, electrical equipment, and a rubber eyecup. The instrument is contained in a square fitted wooden carrying case containing eight shades, four green and four red, a battery charger, eight light bulbs, a plastic suspension strap, a detached handle, and instructions for use in German.

The sextant has a scale from 0° to 80° by 1°, and a vernier measuring to 1 arcminute.

There is also an issue of ‘Navigation: Journal of the Institute of Navigation’ containing a report of tests taken with this kind of instrument.
