The sextant has a casing of aluminium and artificial materials, housing optical equipment, a clockwork averaging mechanism, electrical equipment, a rubber eyecup, and artificial materials.
The sextant has a scale measuring from 0° to 80° by 10 arcminutes, and a vernier measuring to 1 arcminute.
The instrument is contained in a square fitted wooden carrying case containing four shades, two grey and two red, a battery charger, two batteries, two blue light bulbs, three small light bulbs, a suspension strap, which is now missing, and instructions for use in German dated January 1945. It has a hand-operated air pump for spinning the gyro (length 570 mm).
