Logbook kept by Captain Richard Burridge while in command of the frigates HMS PRESIDENT (1829) and HMS AMPHITRITE (1816), 1853-1856. The first part covers the commissioning and voyage to Valparaiso of the PRESIDENT to be flagship of Rear-Admiral David Price on the Pacific Station, between 6 August 1853 and 6 March 1854. In addition to the log entries, there are lists of water stowage and expenditure, sails and spars, stores, ammunition, and an extract from the quarter bill. The later part of the volume covers the voyage of the AMPHITRITE from San Francisco to Valparaiso and the Falkland Islands, bound for Portsmouth to be paid off, between 20 December 1855 and 5 April 1856.
