Uncatalogued: Two typescript accounts written by Cadet John Carter (d.1942), Shaw Savill Line, life as a cadet, 1939 and an account of voyage through the Panama Canal, 3 March 1939.

His account of life as a cadet shows a glimpse into the mind of an apprentice at sea in the employ of one of the large frozen meat import companies, trading between Australia and the United Kingdom. His account of a voyage through the Panama Canal includes places visited such as Gatun Locks, connected to the Gatun Lakes and enters these lakes.
