Reproduction of Sir John Franklin’s last message, giving the positions of HMS TERROR and HMS EREBUS, 24 May 1847. deposited by Lieutenant Gore, on King William Island; added to by Captain Crozier and Captain James Fitzjames after abandoning their ships, 26 April 1848, and recording the death of Franklin and other members of the expedition; found by Lieutenant W Hobson of the FOX, April 1859, see HSR/C/9/1 for original.
