A handwritten signal book with decorative first page titled 'A code of signals to be observed by the fleet under the Command of Vice-Admiral Hood' and dated 1793. There is a note in the back stating that the book was given to Sarah Louisa Broke (nee Middleton) by her husband Sir Philip Bowes Vere Broke on 10 January 1834 and was later passed on to their son George Nathaniel Broke.
