A Class Destroyer

Scale 1:48. Plan shows the inboard profile, as designed of the A-class destroyer. This plan relates to the vessels Codrington (1929), Acasta (1929), Achates (1929), Active (1929), Antelope (1929) , Anthony (1929), Ardent (1929) , Arrow (1929), Acheron (1930), Saguenay (1930 and Skeena (1930). The title of the plan is 'Destroyers 1927 Class Profile'. The plan bears the signature of the Director of Naval Construction Sir William Berry. The plan includes stamps and signatures from the various dockyards that built the A class destroyers. A R & W Hawthorn Leslie stamp, dated 28 March 1928, with the managers signature, is present on the left hand side of the plan. A John Brown & Company stamp, dated 26 April 1928 with the managers signature is present on the left hand side of the drawing. A Scott's Shipbuilding stamp, dated 14 June 1928 on the left hand side of the drawing. A Vickers Armstrong stamp bearing the Director's signature, is printed on the left hand side of the plan. A John I. Thornycroft stamp dated 18 October 1929 bearing the manager's signature, is printed on the left hand side of the drawing. The plan also includes a Parsons Marine Steam Turbine Co Ltd dated 30 October 1929. A note on the plan states that 'In the case of HMS Acheron, these building drawings are modified by A. L. C. P. 7102/ (29/ 5/ 28) and the approved drawings prepared to meet the provisions of this letter'.
