Part of a letter written by Robert Paterson, a plantation owner on Jamaica, to James Murray, an advocate in Aberdeen. Dated Jamaica 10 September 1837. In the letter, Paterson complains bitterly at the actions of the Baptist party and their influence on the island, claiming there is no need for their actions now that slavery and the apprenticeship have been abolished. He is also critical of the Governor, Sir Lionel Smith. With transcript.
