Edward Harper and Christopher Wilson: petition presented to the House of Commons by Harper and Wilson,1809; after taking out a patent for improved methods of shipbuilding Harper and Wilson were invited to demonstrate their invention at Deptford yard. They consequently worked there for two years, 1807-1809 when they were dismissed without receiving any pay or compensation for the private business they had lost.
