Lloyds Medal for Saving Life at Sea

Lloyds of London lifesaving medal in case awarded to Henry Trollope (1815-1876). Obverse: Leucothoe handing her scarf to Ulysses, who in clinging to a floating spar. Legend: 'LEUCOTHOE NAUFRAGO SUCCURRIT'. Exergue: 'W. WYON RA.1839'. Reverse: Within sprays of oak tied with ribbon. Inscription: 'OB CIVES SERVATOS'. Legend: 'PRESENTED BY LLOYD'S'. Inscription on edge: 'LIEUT. HENRY TROLLOPE R.N., 26TH MARCH, 1845 H.M. SHIP ISIS CAPE OF GOOD HOPE.’ The back is covered by a watch glass in a silver mount. The medal is in a case. Awarded to Lieutenant Henry Trollope (1815-1876) of HMS 'Isis' for saving the crew of the barque 'Orion' of Scarboro, wrecked near Ichaboe 20 July 1844.
