Greenwich Hospital Musicians 1834

Framed and glazed print showing two musicians from Greenwich Hospital playing a drum and a flute with the base of a column in the background. Letter on the reverse of the frame states: ' Reminiscences of "Old Greenwich" Hospital Aug 12th/05. This sketch formally the property of the late Mr. C. Crane for many years Parish Clk of Greenwich - represents the "Drummer & Fifer" Greenwich Hospital on parade - which took place at 9.30 a.m. & sunset every day - starting from centre steps & marching round the sq. between "King Charles" & "Queen Anne"... playing a lively tune - to the great joy of the children who followed them - myself amongst the number in the early 40s. I purchased the sketch for old...sake of Fred Crumes sale (late Clk to City of London Union) June/05. Alfred Keell'. The top of the letter has an address printed in red: 55 Hyde Vale Greenwich S.E. The frame is missing screws from 3 of the corners.
