A view of a section of the face of the Great Ice Barrier (Ross Ice Shelf). The Discovery (1901), a research/exploration ship, passed along the Barrier after leaving Ross Island on 23 January 1902.

This photograph was published in the Illustrated London News, 4 July 1903.
