A view from Harwich towards Shotley and the shorebase HMS Ganges.
A view from the pier at Harwich across the mouth of the Stour towards Shotley and the shore base HMS Ganges. The mast of the shore base can be seen in the middle of the image, with the Martello tower to the left. The photographer was serving on HMS 'Aurora' (1913), a light cruiser based in the Harwich Force during World War One.
The negative is slightly grainy, and a little unsharp due to the distance of the land.
