The cabin of Lieutenant Geoffroy William Winsmore Hooper on board HMS 'Aurora' (1913)
An interior photograph of the cabin of Lt. Geoffrey Hooper taken from beside the bed. The curtain on the left obscures the doorway to the corridor on the Lower Deck of HMS 'Aurora' (1913), a light cruiser. The towel is draped over the wash basin, above which is the camera case for the camera he used. Three sets of binoculars hang from a hook next to the mirror. A variety of paperwork is clipped to the wall, including a calendar that could be May. The writing desk is covered in a number of books (titles not discernable) and paperwork in the wicker tray. The rim of the bath is just visible suspended from the ceiling.
The layout of this cabin does not match any of the cabins on the lower deck of the 'as fitted' plans for HMS 'Aurora'. The closest is Cabin No. 2 on the port side, but the writing desk and drawers are on the opposite walls in this photograph.
