A white metal medal commemorating William Knibb, baptist missionary and anti-slavery campaigner. Obverse: Portrait of Knibb, facing to viewer's right. Legend: 'REVD. WILLIAM KNIBB, JAMAICA'. Reverse: Legend: 'WHATEVER MAY BE THE CONSEQUENCE I WILL SPEAK & NOR WILL I DESIST. MISSIONARY MEETING LONDON JUNE 1833. FRIEND OF THE AFRICAN'. Inscription: 'BORN SEPTR. 7TH 1803 LANDED IN JAMAICA FEBR. 12 1825 DIED AT KETTERING JAMAICA NOV 15 1845.' Formerly in the collections of the London Missionary Society.
