The ship's band posed for the photograph on the quarterdeck of HMS 'Aurora' (1913).
The ship's band posing with their musical instruments on the starboard side of the quarterdeck just forward of the after 6 inch gun's blast screen. The screen is covered with splinter matting. On the extreme right is part of the breach for the 3 inch anti-aircraft gun. The bandmaster, a Gunner's Mate, has his back to the camera, and the drummer on the far left is a Stoker. Most of the band are playing flutes or piccolos. The photograph was taken from the starboard side of the after deckhouse.
A flaw in the emulsion is evident down the left side of the negative, which is also suffering from camera shake. A better photograph is N22737
