The ship's band posed for the photograph on the quarterdeck of HMS 'Aurora' (1913).

The ship's band posing with their musical instruments on the starboard side of the quarterdeck just forward of the after 6 inch gun's blast screen. The screen is covered with splinter matting. On the extreme right is part of the breach for the 3 inch anti-aircraft gun. The bandmaster has the badges of a Gunner's Mate and the drummer on the far left is a Stoker. Most of the band are playing flutes or piccolos. An unidentified tug is steaming past the stern of the light cruiser, while destroyers can be seen at moorings in the distance. The photograph was taken from the starboard side of the after deckhouse.

A flaw in the emulsion is evident down the left side of the negative, with some scratches.
