Bust

Bust of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), pearlware with over-glaze enameling, half-length on a flared plinth with naval trophies in relief and square base. The grey plinth is veined to represent marble. The face is coloured naturally and the uniform is blue with red facings to the coat, which has yellow lace. The figure wears a black stock, the star of an order and pink order ribbon with an oval medallion on a ribbon around the neck. The hair is tied in a pigtail by a black ribbon. 'NELSON' is inscribed on the front of the plinth, which has the maker's name 'Stephan f' inscribed on the back. It is similar to the 1798 bust by Robert Shout.
