Engineer Commander Alfred E Cock lowering himself down the rope ladder suspended from the starboard boat boom of the light cruiser HMS 'Aurora' (1913). To the extreme right is the mast of one of the ship's boats which is attached to the boom. Eng. Cdr Cock has his back to the camera. According to the original caption the boat was about to depart for a picnic, so this may be somewhere near Harwich.
