An unidentified drifter coming alongside the starboard bow of the light cruiser HMS 'Arethusa' (1913) aground on Cutler Shoal.
A starboard quarter view of an unidentified drifter (same as in N22606) coming alongside the starboard bow of the light cruiser HMS 'Arethusa' (1913). Fenders can be seen over the side of the drifter with crew on the deck. The photographer was on another vessel off the Arethusa's port bow looking at the wreck and the drifter. 'Arethusa' hit a mine on 11 February off Felixstowe and ran aground on the Cutler Shoal when the tow broke.
The Cutler Shoal is a rocky shoal which lies about 2.3 miles E of the entrance to Woodbridge Haven and the river Deben.
The negative has some small areas that have been touched up to reduce blemishes, but they do not affect the image of the ship or drifter.
