An unidentified destroyer battling through heavy seas.
Taken from the stern of the light cruiser HMS Aurora (1913), looking towards an unidentified destroyer battling heavy seas in the North Sea. The waves and spray can be seen breaking over her bow obscuring the bridge. The destroyers are showing their recognition triangles, which were specific to the Harwich Force.
The photographer was standing in front of the portable stowage area for the 16ft dinghy looking aft. In the foreground can be seen the after skylights, the bollards with the towing cables attached, and a covered roll of cordage. See N22590 for a similar image taken on the same patrol.
A poor quality image due to camera shake and being slightly out of focus.
