The Chief Petty Officers racing dinghies off Parkeston Quay

A view from the light cruiser HMS Aurora (1913) looking across the river Stour towards Parkeston Quay with submarines and destroyers moored alongside or at moorings just off the quay. In the foreground are 12 ship's dinghies racing down river crewed by Chief Petty Officers. On the far left and far right are two destroyer flotilla leaders at moorings.

On 14 September Aurora's boats were involved in a sailing race on the Stour. [Ship's log, TNA, ADM53/34496].

The negative has some minor water marks, and one prominent one near the bottom right.
