A group photograph of the captain and crew of the Indian kotia type dhow Karimi (fl.1938) anchored at Colombo, Ceylon. The captain is in the centre of the group. The photographer is on the starboard side of the forecastle looking aft and the group are standing in the forward part of the waist. An awning is rigged over the aft part of the waist. The photographer was taking passage on the Royal Navy heavy cruiser Cumberland (1926) from Singapore to the U.K. at the time.
