Type K breakfast ration
Dried rations in a grey cardboard box with black lettering. On the front: 'RATION, TYPE K BREAKFAST UNIT. Packaged by THE CRACKER JACK CO, CHICAGO, ILL. Open inner bag carefully. It may be used as a water-proof container for matches, cigarettes etc. For security, do not discard the empty can, paper or refuse where it can be seen from the air. If possible, cover with dirt, foliage, sand, etc'. On the back is a list of what is contained inside the box- 2 packages of biscuits (energy crackers), 1 can ham and eggs, may be eaten cold or after heating by boiling can in water. 1 envelope soluble coffee - should be added to 3 canteen cups of hot or cold water with sugar to taste and stirred well, 1 fruit bar, may be eaten cold or made into jam by stewing slowly for 3-5 min in about 4 tablespoons of water and spread on the crackers, 4 lumps of sugar, 1 package of 4 cigarettes, 1 piece of chewing gum.'
