Patch box

Rectangular patch box commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The surface is enamelled, the base and sides royal blue, the lid is white, painted with a coloured design of an anchor and cannon within an oval inscription: 'Like Nelson may each Briton be / A friend to King and Country'. The edges of the lid are painted with leaves and flowers.
