Patch box
Oval patch box with a mirror inside the lid, commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) and the battle of the Nile, 1798. The base is enamelled white, the sides royal blue. The lid is mainly blue, with a royal blue and gilt border with white spots. Inscribed on a white inner border: 'L'Oriont [sic] on Fire in the Glorious Victory by Adm NELSON 1st August 1798.'
