Cigarette case
Cigarette case commemorating HMS 'Warrior' (launched 1905).
Silver case, gilt inside, the lid enamelled with a coloured painting of HMS 'Warrior' at sea, wearing a white ensign and union flag. The case is hinged at the back, with a snap-closing clasp at the front, a commemorative inscription on the base and a personal inscription inside. Both halves of the inside have fabric bands running through silver-gilt lugs to hold the cigarettes.
The base is inscribed: 'In remembrance of HMS Warrior, Cruiser 13,550 Tons Sunk in the Great Naval Action in the North Sea off Jutland, against the German High Sea Fleet, May 31st 1916 and June 1st 1916 With a loss of 65 Killed and 27 Wounded'.
The inside is inscribed: 'To Lieut. Commander R.W. Bromley R.N. HMS Warrior. From his Uncle, Gerard Bromley, Capt RN June 1916'.
