Tobacco box
Tobacco box commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). A round box, made of embossed sheet brass. On the lid, a profile portrait of Nelson facing left, inscribed: 'ADMIRAL LORD NELSON BORN 29TH SEPTR 1758'. Signed by the makers: 'M & P' on the lid.The edge of the lid and sides of the box are decorated with a key pattern. On the base, within a border of rope twist and key pattern and flanked by oak branches - the inscription: 'CONQUEROR AT ABOUKIR 1 AUGT 1798 COPENHAGEN 2 APRIL 1801 TRAFALGAR 21 OCTR 1805 WHERE HE GLORIOUSLY FELL.'
