Rose bowl centrepiece: Union Castle Line

A silver plate rose bowl centrepeice bowl. It was used as part of the first class place setting on Union Castle Line ships. it consists of a bowl on a stepped base with an engraved zigzag pattern around the edge of the bowl. There is a mesh fitting for flower arranging. Inscribed on the base are the words "MAPPIN & WEBB LTD, LONDON & SHEFFIELD, A, CI/85".
