A starboard bow view of the captured German mine-laying submarine UC 5 (1915), taken from an elevated position on the top of the dry dock. The hatches to mine tubes 3, 4, 5, and 6 are open. The lifting gear is attached to the mine in tube number 4 ready to hoist it clear. The photograph shows the layout of the keel blocks and supports in the dock, including the two wooden supports that the submarine is resting against and the block and tackle attached between the conning tower and dock side.
