Damaged section of electric cable on a wooden base with a brass plate inscribed: ‘PIECE OF CONCENTRIC ELECTRIC CABLE / LAID UNDER ROAD SOUTH SIDE OF NO. 8 SLIP / DURING THE BUILDING OF H.M.S. AFRICA IN / 1903 – 4 VERY HEAVY LOADS WERE PASSED OVER / IT A SMALL STONE WAS WORKED THROUGH THE / LEAD CASING INTO THE COPPER CONDUCTORS / WITH THE ABOVE RESULT.’
