A pair of sealskin over shoes reputedly found on Captain R. F. Scott's body
One of a pair (right) of sealskin over shoes reputedly found on Captain R. F. Scott's body. They are crudely sewn with a sealskin sole, canvas sides, and wooden heels sewn on with wire set in a groove. The soles are sewn on with twine; they have leather fastening straps with buckles, there is a webbing loop on the back of one and a leather loop on the other. A small iron plate is screwed to the heel of the right shoe. The hair has worn off most areas of the shoes.
