Wooden cigar case
Cigar case made of the wood of the ship of the line 'Royal George', which sank at Spithead in 1782. The interior is divided into twelve compartments. A silver inset plaque is inscribed with the words: 'PART OF A BEAM FROM ROYAL GEORGE'. SUNK AT SPITHEAD 29th AUGST 1782. RECOVERED 1840.' Inscribed inside the case are the words: 'FROM AUSTIN FRYERS TO HIS FRIEND JEROME K. JEROME WITH BEST WISHES, 1888.'
