The battleship HMS Zealandia (1904) under the sheerlegs at Sheerness.
A slightly distant port bow view of the pre-Dreadnought battleship HMS Zealandia (1904) under the sheerlegs at Sheerness. Zealandia was part of the 3rd Battle Squadron based at Sheerness from April 1916 until September 1917. She underwent refit at Chatham Dockyard between December 1916 and June 1917.
Aurora (1913) left Harwich for Chatham via Black Deep at 7am on 21 November 1916. She arrived at Sheerness at 1030am and disembarked her ammunition before proceeding to Chatham South Lock at 340pm. She underwent a refit and cleaning until December 1916. [Ship's log, ADM 53/34496].
The negative has been badly exposed with some spotting on the emulsion side. This has created a poor image.
