A port bow view of the passenger liner Kenilworth Castle (1904), as a troopship, under way in the Thames Estuary. Kenilworth Castle was requisitioned from Union Castle SS Co. by the Admiralty in August 1914 as a troopship.

Aurora (1913) was in dock at Chatham from 27 January until 11 February when she arrived back at Harwich having been refitted and cleaned. She later proceeded to Dover on 15 February to provide night defence before returning to Harwich on 23 February. [ship's log, TNA, ADM 53/34496]
