Paper weight made from H.M.S. 'Euryalus'
Oak paper weight with a metal recumbrant lion on the top. A silver plaque reads: 'This oak was part of the timber of H.M.S. wooden steam frigate 'Euryalus', in which ship HRH the Duke of Edinburgh served his first commission as Midshipman in the Royal Navy.' A second silver plaque on the base is inscribed: 'HRH the Duke of York KG, on his marrriage 6 July 1893 from Alfred H. Tarleton, of Breakspears only son of the late Admiral Sir J. Tarleton KCB, ADC, who commanded HMS 'Euryalus' 1858-1860'.
