Cowrie shell from shipwreck

Cowrie shell (Cypraea moneta Linnaeus/ money cowrie) of Indian Ocean/ Pacific origin, widely disseminated as indigenous currency. From the wreck of an unidentified merchantman circa 1780-1815, found in the South Edinburgh Channel, Thames Estuary.
