Commodore Henry Caldwell (1815-68)
Marble bust of Commander Henry Caldwell on an integral square base inscribed on the front 'Commodore Caldwell CB ADC / MDCCCLXVIII [1868]'. The sitter is shown head and full shoulders in full-dress commodore's uniform, including epaulettes, ADC's sash, star of the Order of the Bath and a medal bearing the head of Queen Victoria, possibly the Baltic medal. His hair is brushed back and he wears long mutton-chop side-whiskers.
The bust was presented to the Museum in October 1942 by Caldwell's descendant, Commander and Mrs Derek Cooper of Sudbury, Suffolk.
